Searching for a PS3 on sale can be a daunting task. The demand is keeping the price high. It can be annoying if you only have a set amount of money to work with and it’s not quite enough to make the purchase.
I know how you feel! I have tried to justify the item in so many ways for so long. To start building a PS3 fund I thought I would begin by selling my old PS2 games. I’ve thought about going through my closet and digging out my old jeans to see what they might fetch on eBay. I even cleaned out the garage scrounging for old tools and junk that I haven’t used in years so I could sell them on eBay. We even put our stuff in a neighborhood sale to come up with the funds to buy a PS3. After doing the math I had made about $5 an hour or a measly $50. As an aside, garage sales are not the way to go! I definitely recommend auctioning your old stuff off on eBay, you’ll make much more money.
I’ve been there before. When compared to other game systems the PS3 is far-and-away superior. I was sold when I found it was Blu-Ray. I could not only play HD games on it but I could now watch all my movies in HD as well. That’s a hard-sell to the wife! Honestly, once we got HD and my wife watched it a few times we really only watch HD shows or movies. I had won her over on every point exept the price.
I’ve been around the block on this concept and if I have not been able to find a better deal on a game system that also plays Blu-Ray than the PS3. Even when it’s not on sale! The average Blu-Ray player will cost you $200-$250 but it doesn’t play games. The new XBOX does play games in HD and movies as well but it uses the not-chosen HD DVD format. The real issue is getting a PS3, if at all possible, at a discount.
I searched on eBay and some other traditional auction sites and found that there really aren’t any PS3 Sale Prices out there. They show perceived value by including all these extras that you may or may not even care about. The goal here is to spend as little money as possible, not more.
Ultimately, I had to think outside the box. Somebody told me about unique bid auction sites and I started researching them. There are a few decent ones out there but the one that stands out to me is www.auctions4acause.com. They have more everyday items available for auction, including the PS3, than any of the other sites. The majority of the other sites like it zero in on really expensive things like cars, land and motorcycles. That’s fine and dandy but I just want the console!
After I found that site I know it was exactly what I needed. Two thumbs up as they had the exact item I wanted and I could get it for cheap. I visited the site and setup an account. I rung up 3 bids and knew I had the lowest and unique bid. Wouldn’t you know it, I didn’t win the first time. It was another week before I could bid on another one. I placed 3 more bids on it and crossed my fingers and waited. Bingo! I won this time. After a few days I was wrapping up the PS3 as a gift for my nephew. At the end I had dropped less than $60.64. Not too shabby, huh?
It can take a few minutes of reading to truly grasp the concept of the lowest unique bid auction style. Once you get a handle on the concept you may not want to stop. Since that time that I won the PS3 I’ve bid on and won 3 other items including an iPod Nano (they have the best iPod Prices) and $400 gas card. I’ve won over $1,200 worth of stuff for about $350 in bid fees.
